PORTLAND – Victor C. Krog, 76, a resident of the West Road in Bowdoin, died Monday, May 7, at Maine Medical Center, with family at his side.

He was born in Worcester, Mass., June 25, 1930, a son of Peter and Emma Krog. He was educated in Massachusetts schools, but had been a resident of the greater Lisbon Falls community since 1961.

He was a veteran of the military, having served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 until he was honorably discharged in 1950. Upon moving to this area in 1961, he worked for several years at the U.S. Gypsum plant in Lisbon Falls as a machine operator and supervisor. He later worked a number of years as a technician at Maine Electronics in Lisbon, before working security at Liberty Mutual in Lewiston, until his retirement.

One of his favorite pastimes was bowling, both candlepin and tenpin, where he competed for many years in several leagues around the area. He also enjoyed bird-watching and walking in the woods on his farmland, known as “Breezy Acres.” He was an honest, hard-working man, a good father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all.

He leaves two daughters, Cheryl Pitula, and husband, Peter, of Glenburn, and Bonnie Green, and husband, Jeff, of Bangor; two sons, Bradley Krog, and wife, Dawn, of Bowdoin, and Randy Krog, and wife, Alice, of Bowdoin; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Ella Beach, and husband, Dave, of Rutland, Mass.; two brothers, Phil Krog, and wife, Mary, of Auburn, Mass., and Stan Krog, and wife, Ruth, of Holden, Mass.; and his dog and faithful companion, “Bud.”

He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Emma Krog; and a brother, Howie Krog.
