DIXFIELD – A 13-year-old Peru boy was injured late Wednesday afternoon after the bicycle he was riding south on Weld Street with traffic was struck from behind by a car, Sgt. Mark Dow said Thursday afternoon.

Med-Care Ambulance took Wesley Moro to Rumford Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries, Dow said. The boy was not wearing a helmet.

“My understanding is that the kid apparently pulled in front of the vehicle and the driver didn’t see him,” Dow said of the 5:30 p.m. accident at 115 Weld St.

The driver, Matthew Carter, 17, of Dixfield wasn’t injured but Dow estimated damage to his Ford Escort at $1,200. The car is owned by Carter’s father, Stephen Carter of Dixfield, the sergeant added.

No charges are expected.
