LEWISTON – The final speaker of this season’s Great Falls Forum will be Lewiston High School teacher Joan Macri.
Macri’s talk is titled, “Lewiston As A College Town: Creating A College-Going Culture.”
The talk will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the Marsden Hartley Cultural Center, Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St.
Macri has been a teacher for nearly 40 years, more than 20 of them at Lewiston High School where she was the debate and mock trial team coach.
She has served as a mentor to students completing the college application process and has created and implemented innovative programs encouraging college aspirations. Among them: college road trips, aspirations lab and early college studies program. She has received grants from the Mitchell Institute, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Melmac Education Foundation and more.
Speakers for next season are being chosen and a listing of speakers and talks will be published in August.
