FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue High School Class of 2007 is looking forward to a busy, well-planned graduation week. The week will kick off at a mandatory class meeting on Monday, June 4.
Students will pick up and pay for their caps and gowns and receive seven tickets for graduation. After the meeting, seniors, in caps and gowns, will march into the gym for an all-school assembly in their honor. The assembly is largely student-planned.
Monday evening, seniors will take part in baccalaureate at the Old South Church. The Rev. Doug Dunlap will be in charge of that evening. The students will highlight their talents and memories through readings, speeches and music.
Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, June 5 and 6, students will practice marching in the school gym. On Tuesday evening, the annual awards ceremony will take place in the gym. A senior slide show will make its debut, and students will receive scholarships and other awards.
After marching practice on Wednesday, students will leave for their senior trip to Big Adventure in Bethel. Wednesday evening there will be a dinner of steak and seafood in a dining room at Sunday River.
There are plans for a bonfire and other activities overnight, with the trip concluding with breakfast and the trip home on Thursday.
Graduation is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, on Caldwell Field at Mt. Blue High School, weather permitting. Students have planned a ceremony of music and speeches. If graduation needs to be moved indoors due to weather or field conditions, announcement will be made on WKTJ no later than 7 a.m. Saturday.
