ANNA MARIA, Fla. – Valerie M. Warekois, 81, formerly of Lewiston, died Thursday, April 5, at her home following a short illness.

She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 5, 1925, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Shimkus) Varaneckis.

She attended Lewiston schools and was a graduate of the University of Maine.

Following school she married and relocated to Weymouth, Mass., where she worked many years as librarian for the City of Weymouth.

Then she retired as a summer resident of West Dennis, Mass., and as a winter resident of Anna Maria, Fla., with her husband, Ed.

She was a devout Catholic and very active within the church. She enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Warekois of West Dennis, Mass., and Anna Maria, Fla.; two sons, William Warekois and his wife, Emily, of Beaver Dam, Va., and Thomas Warekois and his wife, Gail, of Summers Chase, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Peter, Jennifer, and Benjamin Warekois.
