JAY – There are a couple of errors on the recommendations printed on the ballot in the 2006 town report on page 76. It is a printer error and they will be corrected at no cost to the town when people get their ballots on Election Day, Town Clerk Ronda Palmer said Monday.
Voters are scheduled to go to the polls between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, at the Community Building to decide a $16 million school and town spending plan for fiscal 2008.
The explanations in the town report in the regular section on pages 66 and 67 are correct, Palmer said; they are just incorrect on the sample ballot.
In Article 10 in the town report, in reference to raising $200,250 for dispatch, it should read that both selectmen and the Budget Committee recommend a no vote.
The plan is if the article fails as recommended, emergency dispatch services will be provided by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center in Farmington. Currently, 911 emergency calls go to Franklin County and then are switched over to Jay’s dispatch.
The move is expected to save the town the $200,250.
In Article 12, pertaining to the Fire Rescue Department to raise and appropriate $233,672, the budget panel recommendation should note there’s no recommendation instead of recommending a yes vote, Palmer said.
The selectmen’s recommendation of a yes vote is correct.
Town reports are available at the town office.
