RUMFORD – Voters will choose from four candidates running for two open seats on the Board of Selectmen on June 12.

Monday was the cut-off date for submitting nomination papers for the two selectmen’s seats, four SAD 43 board seats, and a single seat on the Board of Assessors.

Incumbent Jolene Lovejoy, who is the Board of Selectmen’s vice-chairwoman, is seeking a fourth, three-year term. Jim Rinaldo, the board’s chairman, isn’t seeking a second term.

Also running for selectman are: Frank DiConzo, a SAD 43 and Region 9 School of Applied Technology board member, Brad Adley, a Planning Board member, and Ronald Theriault, a former Charter Commission member.

Running for an additional three-year term on the SAD 43 board is Chairwoman Linda Westleigh. Seeking to finish the one-year remaining in Tony DaSalle’s term is Marcia Chaisson, a former candidate for town clerk.

No one has returned nomination papers for two other SAD 43 seats held by David McKivergan and Frank DiConzo. Neither is running.

Town Clerk Jane Giasson said the positions may be filled through write-in votes or selectmen may appoint two people for one year. At the end of that time, potential candidates could then take out nomination papers to run for the remaining two years of the terms.

Running unopposed for a three-year term on the Board of Assessors is Peter Perry.

In addition to electing municipal and school officers, residents will also vote on a 50-plus municipal budget warrant, a two-question state ballot, five straw questions, and validate a 2007-08 SAD 43 operating budget.

Voting takes place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Congress Street.
