AUGUSTA – George J. Richard, 70, a resident of Fish Meadow Road in Livermore, died Sunday, May 13, at Maine Veterans’ Home, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Livermore, the son of Albert and Albina (Dupuis) Richard. He was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War.
On Nov. 23, 1957, he married Dianne H. Hamilton of Livermore Falls. He worked for International Paper Co. at the Otis and Androscoggin mills in Jay, retiring after 40 years of service.
He was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 14 and the IP Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed time spent with his wife, Dianne and his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne of Livermore; two daughters, Karen Chupa, and her husband, Kas, of New Hampshire and Amy Richard of Livermore Falls; a son, Jason Richard, and his wife, Jen, of Hampden; two sisters, Lorraine Mercier, and her husband, Victor and Gloria Tremblay, both of Livermore Falls; two grandsons, Silas Coffin and Avery Richard; two granddaughters, Rhiannon Coffin and Isabelle Richard-Druzba; his extended family, Chick and Nancy Chicoine and their children, Brad, Erica and Ross; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Fred, Leo, Arthur, Robert and Leonard Richard; and two sisters, Marion Pomeroy and Rita Ellenberger.
