FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Fairgrounds will be the site of a hypothetical mass-casualty incident in a training exercise scheduled for Saturday by the the Oxford County Emergency Management Agency .

It will be the largest local first-responder event since 2005, said Oxford County EMA Director Scott Parker. Two-hundred first responders and 100 volunteers will participate, Parker said.

The event, designed to test response capabilities in a large-scale disaster, will take place at the fairgrounds between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Three hospitals, three police departments, 14 fire departments, nine emergency medical services, and three hazardous materials teams will participate.

Members of the Community Emergency Response Team and the Community Animal Response Team will also be on hand to test shelters for residents and pets at the nearby Molly Ockett Middle School.
