AUSTIN, Texas – John F. Cloutier, formerly of Lewiston, passed away on April 24, – just four days shy of his 64th birthday – at his home in Austin, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the son of former Lewiston Police Officer Wallace Cloutier and Annette (Tetu) Allen. He was born on April 29, 1943, in Lewiston and attended local schools.
In 1960, he joined the U.S. Navy and spent the next 20 years in the service of his country aboard nuclear submarines. He retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After his military service, he and his beloved wife, Judy, owned and operated a wholesale clothing business in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. After retirement, they resided in Utah, Florida and Texas.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Judy N. (Suknot) Cloutier of Austin, Texas; sons, Jon (Karen) Cloutier of Austin, Texas, and Jason (Tammy) Cloutier of Banning, Calif.; daughters, Darcy Cloutier-Fernald of Redlands, Calif., and Beth (Mike) Drake of Burton, Mich.; brother, Bill Cloutier, and fiancée, Gina Lalley, of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother-in-law, Jerry (Alta) Graham of Alta Loma, Calif.; grandchildren, Xander Fernald and Logan and Hannah Cloutier; as well as many surrogate children including, Christina Battiston of Boston, Mass., and Amanda Hunter of Orlando, Fla.
He was predeceased by both parents; his stepfather, Delmont Allen; and brothers-in-law, Gene and Joe Suknot.
