AUBURN – Karen S. Savage, 54, of Poland, died on May 14, at the Hospice House, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her loving fiancé and family members were by her side.

She was born in Farmington on April 2, 1953, the daughter of Lloyd and Marion (Walker) Haines. She attended school in Philips and graduated from Mt. Abram in 1971.

She moved to North Carolina, where she was an apartment manager and a homemaker. She met her fiancé, Erland Torrey, in 2003. In 2004, she moved to Maine so that she could be closer to her family.

She loved music and being a mother and is remembered for her radiant smile.

She is survived by her beloved fiancé, Erland; mother, Marion of Jay; daughter, Amy Savage, and husband, Ken Lettich, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son, Daniel of Fayetteville, N.C.; sisters, Jackie, and husband, Clinton Abbott, of Phillips, Sherry, and husband, Ronald Pinkham, of Jay, Wanda, and husband, Skip Decker, of Farmington and Cinder Savage of Industry; brothers, Steve Haines, and wife, Linda, of Phillips, Harland Haines, and wife, Julie, of Avon, Tim Haines, and companion, Cindy, of Avon and Brian Haines of Cambridge, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
