NORWAY – Raymond J. Arsenault, 78, of South Paris, died Monday, May 14, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.

He was born in Gorham, N.H., on May 3, 1929, the son of Glorice and Mary Desroche Arsenault. He attended school in Gorham, N.H., and had been a deputy sheriff for Oxford County, before moving to Florida.

He enjoyed gambling and politics. He was chairman of the Democratic Party in Norway in the 1960s.

He is survived by two daughters, Laurel Foster of Charlotte, N.C. and Bonnie Van Durme, and her husband, Doug, of Norway; three sons, Lee Arsenault and Paul Arsenault, both of Norway and Dennis Arsenault, and his wife, Debbie, of South Paris; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Travis Van Durme.
