WATERVILLE – Rita M. Roy, 76, formerly of 550 College Ave., Lewiston, died Tuesday, May 15, at Mt. St. Joseph’s Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston on May 24, 1930, the daughter of Wilfred and Alice (Berube) Asselin and had been a resident of the community all of her life.
She was employed at Knapp Shoe for many years until her retirement in 1992.
She was married to Normand G. Roy on Oct. 15, 1966; he died on Sept. 12, 1995.
She was a member of the Lewiston & Auburn Senior Citizens and a parishioner of the former St. Mary’s Church.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping, going out to eat and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Paul Roy, and his wife, Vicki, of Sidney; one daughter, Lisa Dubois, and her husband, Jason, of Nebraska City, Neb.; four grandchildren, Emily and Olivia Roy and Nicholas and Joshua Dubois; one brother, Lucien Asselin of Lewiston; one sister, Jackie Duclos, and her husband, Normand, of Berlin, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Roland and Robert Asselin.
