FARMINGTON – A group of artists will open their studios for a Tour d’Art this weekend. The third annual studio tour and sale will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Organizers KiKA Nigals and Mary Beth Morrison have 15 artists participating in the driving tour this year.
“The drive is doable and within a few miles around Farmington,” Nigals said. “We have a real variety of art on display this year, including pottery, jewelry, photographers as well as painters who work in a variety of mediums.”
Maps with directions are available at The Calico Patch or at vendors with Tour d’Art posters. Directions may also be downloaded at the events page at www.upcountryartists.com.
Directions to each studio start from the intersection of Main and Broadway in downtown Farmington. Some artists will host other artists who may live too far outside Farmington, Nigals said.
Joyce Dubay will offer realistic paintings, while Scott Perry specializes in panoramic landscapes of special places in Maine. Karen Campbell is a Sugarloaf watercolor artist, and Nigals features colorful, playful images in various mediums.
Leon Gin offers travel and nature photography, and Penny Hall does clay and paper sculpture, collage and handbound artist’s books.
Emily Hartung captures the beauty of nature through oil, acrylics and watercolors, while Lucia Swallow has works that feature the colors and weather that is unique to each season.
Selina Shields offers framed watercolor originals and prints, while John Lovejoy paints watercolors of Maine landscapes. Gayle Barigar works in oils magnifying the details usually overlooked.
Steve Rothert features watermedia of people and landscapes of Maine, while Valerie Rothert offers handcrafted jewelry, sculptured lampwork bead pens and bookmarks.
Mary Beth Morrison works in watercolor, acrylic and oil, and Kay Seefeld paints landscapes and abstracts in watercolor.
