AUBURN – Drivers in Auburn are advised to expect delays as work on the Turnpike gets under way.

On the Turnpike, at mile 77.6 in Auburn, a northbound lane closure is scheduled from 8 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday as repairs are made to the South Main Street Bridge. State troopers will be on site and traffic stops are expected between 10:30 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Highway officials say those traffic stops may last for periods of up to 25 minutes. Motorists traveling north on the highway through Auburn should be prepared for delays or seek alternative routes.

Also Thursday, between mile 64 in Gray and mile 69 in New Gloucester, a southbound Turnpike lane will be closed between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. for roadwork.

Other highway projects are expected to tie up traffic in Falmouth, Portland and West Gardiner. A complete list of highway work can be found at www.maineturnpike.com.
