NORWAY – Therese H. Whitley, 70, of Oxford died Thursday, May 17, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Augusta on March 29, 1937, the daughter of Albanie and Laurette Lessard Pare. She graduated from high school at Oxford Hills and had been employed at A.L. Stewarts and later at C.B. Cummings Co. as an assistant foreman, retiring after 35 years.

She was a member of the Oxford Advent Christian Church, the Oxford Hills ATV Trailblazers and Good Sam No. 28 Fireside Friends. She enjoyed bowling years ago and took great pride and joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She married Charles Whitley on Sept. 29, 1990.

She is survived by her husband of Oxford; two daughters, Esther Hunt, and her husband, Stanley, of West Paris and Estelle Dow of Poland; a son, George May Jr., and his wife, Merry, of South Paris; a stepdaughter, Darlene Wolfson, and her husband, Stephen, of Holly Hill, Fla.; two stepsons, Daryl Whitley and David Whitley; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rose Pare, Yvette Austin, Germaine Belanger, and her husband, Leo and Laurette Rowe; and several nieces and nephews.
