After reading the article titled “Pit bull owner gets 7 months for assault,” (May 12) I have come to wonder how the dog was involved in the incident.
The perpetrator was pinning his girlfriend and a small child to the floor, his fist cocked, when the police entered. He fought with them, resisted arrest, and had to be pepper-sprayed.
The dog nipped a cop without breaking the skin. Considering the situation, I would call that fairly restrained.
That breed of dog has suffered greatly at the hand of man. Would the headline have been the same if, say, the dog were a cocker spaniel?
