Norway – Howard L. Dyke Jr., 69, of North Norway, died Thursday, May 17, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Sugar Hill, N.H., on Oct. 27, 1937, to Howard L. Dyke Sr. and Grace (Johnson) Dyke. He married the former Marie Currier.

Mr. Dyke worked most of his adult life as a sawmill operator. He had worked for Brown and Bradway and for many years at Wilner Wood Products of South Paris.

After his retirement, he had a small woodworking shop at his residence on the Greenwood Road and was well known for the various wood products that he sold and had displayed at his shop.

He was especially fond of his grandson, “Robbie,” and his two great-grandchildren, Alex and Luke. He also had a favorite dog named “Buster.”

Howard is survived by his wife, Marie; two daughters, Brenda and her husband, Richard Mowatt, of North Norway, and Barbara Heath of Blyth, N.C.; three sisters, Margaret Dyke, Donna Dyke and Debbie Johnson, all of Rumford; a brother, Henry of Berwick; grandson, Robbie; and great-grandsons, Alex and Luke.

He was predeceased by a son, Robert Heath, in 1969; two brothers, Ronald and Leland; and a sister, Barbara.
