LEWISTON – Joseph T. R. “Rick” Remillard, 70, of Rosedale Street, Lewiston, died Friday afternoon, May 18, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Lewiston on Jan. 10, 1937, he was the son of Henry and Medora (Lagasse) Remillard.

He was educated at St. Mary’s Elementary School, Lewiston High School, and two years of college while he was in the military.

He was a retired member of the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant, retiring after Desert Storm after more than 30 years of service.

He married the former Linda Tuttle on Sept. 8, 1985.

Joseph loved hunting, fishing, bowling and bingo.

He was a current member of the Lewiston Board of Appeals, being appointed by former Mayor Lionel Guay, current member of the DAV and a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Besides his wife of Lewiston, he is survived by a son, Thomas M.H. Remillard, and a stepson, John Hibbard Jr., both of Lewiston; two daughters, Jaunna Curit and her husband, Steve, of Litchfield, and Michelle Sarafin and her husband, Kim, of West Chesterfield, Mass.; two special daughters, Catherine Crowley of Lewiston, and Sharon Bazinette and her husband, James, of Poland; two sisters, Lucille Caron and her husband, Paul, of Lewiston, and Marie Pevey of Cross Plains, Texas; one aunt, Cora Dumond of Topsham; and many cousins.

He was predeceased by three infant brothers; one sister, Helen Holland; and by a special grandson, Laurier Belanger Jr., who died in 2004.
