Rumford Police Sgt. David Bean inspects a minivan that collided with several shrubs and a neighbor’s lawn at 232 Spruce St. Tuesday afternoon. The van’s driver, Jacqueline Fallon, 67, stepped on the gas instead of the brake after she became confused when she got the vehicle on uneven ground, according to Rumford Patrolman Adam Sage. “She backed up on some uneven ground, went to take off and mistook the gas for the brake,” Sage said. Fallon was transported to Rumford Hospital for a possible neck and shoulder injury. Police estimated damage to the van at $5,000, and to the house and landscape at $500.
