AUBURN – The Taylor Pond Yacht Club, situated on the shores of Taylor Pond, offers an extensive summer program for kids at the 40-acre property off Perkins Ridge Road.

Qualified instructors spend the summer teaching kids of all levels, abilities and ages how to swim in the protected swimming area; tennis lessons are held on the club’s two new hard-surface tennis courts; and sailing lessons take place on the waters of Taylor Pond.

Lessons are held rain or shine in a seven-week course that takes place from early July through mid-August. The summer instructional programs are open to any child in the community for a fee. The program schedule, fees and registration forms can be found at the Taylor Pond Yacht Club Web site at www.tpyc.info.

Taylor Pond is a two-mile long lake located near Lost Valley ski area. The yacht club was founded in 1942 for family recreation and friendship. The property includes 850 feet of shore front with a sandy beach and shaded picnic areas.

Club members use adult and junior clubhouses, tennis courts, swimming floats, protected swimming area and beach, dock, boat mooring area, large waterfront screened porch, ball field and parking.

Adults can take tennis lessons and play in a league play, sailing races, lobster bakes and evening social events. Members can keep a kayak, canoe or boat at the club and can bring guests. Club facilities are also available to rent for large functions.
