GREENE – The Greene Economic and Development Group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Greene Town Office. High on the agenda will be a discussion on the fate of the proposed seventh annual Greene Village celebration, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8.

To date, no one has stepped forward to organize the celebration and unless someone is found or volunteers by the meeting date, the event may have to be canceled. The celebration was held on Main Street and consisted of various events.

The day started off with a pancake breakfast, followed by a parade, pie-baking contests, chicken barbecue and a Mr. and Ms. Legs.

This year, with the Julia Adams Library addition being done, the Greene Village Celebration would be particularly meaningful. It is hoped that someone will come forward to take charge of the organization by the Greene Economic and Development Group meeting date.
