LEWISTON – There will be no Maineiacs celebration over the Memorial Day weekend, Deputy City Administrator Phil Nadeau announced Friday. He said there may be a celebration after Monday, but details had not been confirmed.

The Lewiston Maineiacs were eliminated from the Memorial Cup tournament Thursday night in Vancouver, after losing to the Plymouth Whalers. The Maineiacs won the President’s Cup earlier this month, making them the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champions. The Memorial Cup competition pitted them against other Canadian league winners.
