Lewiston – Philip E. Webster Sr., 76, of Greene, died Thursday evening, May 24, at Central Maine Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born July 7, 1930, in Greene, the son of Wallace and Beatrice Hallowell Webster. Philip attended school in Greene. He proudly served in the U.S. Army.

On Dec. 7, 1951, he married Edna Rideout of Lincoln in Sabattus.

Philip worked many years as a truck driver, as a molder at Webster Rubber Company in Sabattus, and later for the town of Sabattus road crew.

He enjoyed collecting and watching movies, cutting wood and collecting sap for making maple syrup.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edna of Greene; four daughters, Virginia Clement and her husband, Frank, of Greene, Deborah Diffin and her husband, Leslie, of Gladwin, Mich., Crystal Chase and her husband, Leonard, of Greene, and Vienna Murry and her husband, David, of Iowa City, Iowa; two sons, Philip Webster Jr. and Blaine Webster, both of Lewiston; two sisters, Rena Pearson and her husband, William, of Banning, Calif., and Phyllis Buys of Apple Valley, Calif.; one brother, Blaine Webster and his wife, Irene, of Auburn; and by his sister-in-law, Violet Bergeron of Sabattus; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Bergeron; and by his son, Bryan Webster.
