NEW YORK (AP) – On the westbound flight, it was law manuals or study guides. Eastbound, the law books.

When she wasn’t taking care of passenger needs, JetBlue flight attendant Eunice Ortega spent her time on cross-country flights studying the law. Ortega, 42, got her law degree Sunday from Touro College’s Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.

The Queens resident spent four years in the part-time program, attending classes four days a week and then flying around the country for the other three as part of her job.

She said she intends to remain with the airline until she passes the bar exam, and hopes to focus her legal career in areas like immigration.

“Anybody can do it,” she said. “You just have to own $160,000 in debt and wake up at 3:30 in the morning.”
