HARRISON – Dolores Marie Smith, 81, of Harrison, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 26, at her residence.

She was born in Detroit, Mich., on Sept. 27, 1925, to John and Helen Gensicki. She was a graduate of Cass Tech High School in Detroit, Mich., and received an associate degree from New Mexico State University.

She married Daniel A. Smith in 1965, and together they raised two daughters in Las Cruces, N.M. She was the personnel manager for the Washington School of Secretaries, a Realtor with Watson & Watson, and a homemaker. She was a beloved wife and mother, an herbalist, an excellent cook and book collector with a large collection of cookbooks. She raised German shepherd dogs, enjoyed visits to her daughters’ families in New Mexico and in Georgia, cooking, gardening, reading and finding the best recipes on earth.

She is survived by her husband, Dan of Harrison; two daughters, Nina, wife, of Michael Ricklin, of Sante Fe, N.M., and Leah, wife, of Frank Fisher, of Atlanta, Ga.; a stepson, Daniel B. Smith of Conroe, Texas; and five grandchildren, Jason, Jacqueline, and Justin Fisher and Nathan and Megan Ricklin.

She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Eleanor; and brothers, Joseph and Leonard.

She will be greatly missed and remembered for her passionate love of family, her kindness and generosity.
