WEST PARIS – After many hours of planning, the town’s Old Home Days Committee has scheduled this year’s event for this weekend, June 1 to June 3.
The celebration kicks off Friday at 3 p.m. with craft sales and a flag-raising ceremony at the town office complex on Kingsbury Street. There will be a musical program at the town library and a baked bean supper at the Historical Society at 5:30 p.m. During the meal, pianist Elaine Emery will present a program of “Oldies. The annual children’s parade being featured at 6 p.m.
The midway on Kingsbury Street also will be open Friday featuring games and other children’s activities, food booths, and entertainment for all ages.
Saturday features a variety of events including the Grand Parade, which starts at 10 a.m. The parade will organize on Briggs Street, march down Main Street to the village center where people can get a close look at the floats and other parade features.
Other activities on Saturday include a model train show, pony rides, a motorcycle show and a lawnmower pull. Evening activities Saturday include a street dance and a fireworks display.
Sunday features a Pine Tree Baseball Game at 9 a.m., a downhill Soap Box Derby race beginning at 11 a.m., and a chicken barbecue at noon along with a bevy of activities on the midway on Kingsbury Street.
Craft sales, wagon rides, wood carving, pony rides, and more will be offered throughout the weekend.
The celebration’s focus this year is the annual West Paris High School Alumni Reunion and Banquet, which will be held Saturday evening.
