When LD 1309 was proposed to use Maine tax dollars to pay for abortions, I called state Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello, R-Poland, and Sen. Margaret Rotundo, D-Lewiston, and state Rep. John Robinson, R-Raymond, and Rep. Elaine Makas, D-Lewiston.

A recent letter to the editor criticized Snowe-Mello for failing to keep her promises, but she called me at home and we talked for a long time. Robinson also called, and he told me the bill was “killed in the Senate.”

I was thrilled to hear that.
