DURHAM – A Gorham motorcyclist escaped apparent injury Tuesday afternoon when his two-wheeler collided with a stationwagon on Route 125 at the Quaker Meetinghouse Road intersection.

According to Trooper Michael Chavez, Roger Clark, 35, of Auburn, had stopped at the intersection and not seeing any traffic, started to cross Route 125, when a motorcycle approached over the crest of a hill. He told the trooper he attempted to stop and back up.

The cyclist, Dale Smith, 54, of Gorham, who was driving north toward Lisbon Falls, “T-boned” Clark’s stationwagon and was thrown to the pavement.

Smith complained of wrist pain and was taken to Mid-Coast Hospital in Brunswick by Durham Fire and Rescue. Damage to Smith’s 2006 BMW motorcycle was estimated at $6,000. Damage to the left side of Clark’s 95 Mercury stationwagon at $7,000 in the 1:15 p.m. crash.
