LEWISTON – Gilbert C. Hiscock, 76, a former resident of Park Street, Livermore Falls, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 29, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was born on July 7, 1930, in Wilton, the son of Elwood and Addie (Knowles) Hiscock. He attended the schools of Wilton and earned his GED when he was 63 years of age. He worked as a knife sharpener for Forster Mfg. Co., retiring due to ill health. He enjoyed working with wood, making lamps and spending time with his dog “Teddy.”

He is survived by three daughters, Wandalyn, and her husband, Gary Dorr, of Jay, Randie, and her husband, David Smith, of Stratton and Tammy McGowan, and her companion, John Webster, of Jay; his mother-in-law, Nettie Pettengill of Jay; a special friend, Beatrice Pierce of Livermore Falls; two brothers, Leander Hiscock, and his wife, Theresa, of Jay and Joseph Hitchcock, and his wife, Gilly, of Carabassett Valley; two sisters, Marcia Smith, and her husband, Pearley, of Weld, and Marie Smith, and her husband, Omer, of Wilton; six grandchildren, Blaine Bronish, and his wife, Amber, Matthew Bronish, Robert Sabins, and his wife, Jennifer, Lisa Knodel, Amanda Sue Kavis, and her companion, Daniel Evans and Kimberly Webster; four stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two wives, Bertha Baker in 1973 and Florence Welch in 1994; two sons, Darryl “Kip” Hiscock and Gerald Hiscock; a daughter, Sue Johnson; two brothers, Robert and Merrill Hiscock; and a sister, Elizabeth Vining.
