BANGOR – Robert E. Rundlett, 75, of New Portland passed away unexpectedly at Eastern Maine Medical Center on Tuesday, May 29.
He was born Aug. 30, 1931, in New Portland, the son of Eldreth and Caroline Rundlett. He attended New Portland schools and worked as a bus driver for SAD 9, also for Dirigo Dowell for many years, and as a part-time deputy for the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department for 22 years.
He was also a member of the U.S. Army. He married Ernestine Dunham on Dec. 22, 1956 in Kingfield. He was on the New Portland planning board, a member of the Kingfield American Legion, and the Farmington Elks. He was a Beano addict, playing 6 to 7 nights a week, enjoyed his cat, playing the scratch tickets, watching game shows and playing solitaire.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Rundlett, and her fiancé, Eb Gerry, of Kingfield; two sons, Wayne Rundlett, and his girlfriend, Ginny, of New Portland and Brian Rundlett, and his wife, Stacie, of New Portland; 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Jason, Tiffany, T.C., Devin, Ashley, Jacob, Brittany and Jianna; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Petersen of Massachusetts, and Dorothy Chastain of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ernestine in September 1996; a sister, Lillian; and five brothers, James, Clayton, Donald, Sonny and William.
