PLYMOUTH, Mass. – Robert W. Holmes, 77, a resident of Plymouth, Mass., for the past 10 years, passed away May 27.

He was born in Duxbury, where he also attended Duxbury schools. He spent some time in the military and in 1950, married Natalie Dodge and together they raised seven children.

He was a part-time Duxbury police officer and was also a builder/contractor. He was an avid bowler, golfer and softball player.

He had many hobbies, one of them woodworking (wooden toys and toy furniture,) which he made for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed 3-D puzzles, horseshoes, pool and playing cribbage. His favorite sports team was the Red Sox, and watching NASCAR racing. His favorite pastime was to spend as much time as he could with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

He was married to the late Natalie (Dodge) Holmes for 52 years.

Survivors include his children, Robert A. Holmes of Hyannis, Warren R. Holmes, and his wife, Pam, of Nebraska, Stephen F. Holmes, and his wife, Sue, of Rockland, Deborah A. Brown, and her husband, Anthony, of Brockton, Mass., Dorothy Holmes-Picard of Maine, Thomas M. Holmes, and his wife, Beth, of Whitman and Sandra J. Jung, and her husband, Douglas, of Taunton, Mass.; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; his companion, Ann Shea of Hingham; as well as several nieces and nephews.
