HARPSWELL – Maine School Science Volunteers has appointed Ron Pruzick and Toni Mercadante to the board of directors.
Pruzick is a former test engineering manager for ADEMCO in Syosset, N.Y., and prior to that he served as vice president of engineering for KNOGO Corp., Westbury, N.Y. He also was project engineer for three aerospace companies, for which he designed and developed radar simulators and airborne radar systems.
Now living in Topsham, Pruzick has been associated with Maine School Science Volunteers for three years, conducting special school assignments, including mentoring programs in Yarmouth and Mast Landing School in Freeport.
Mercadante of Bath has been active with the group for seven years in specialized programs as well as regular volunteer sessions in numerous schools. With a PhD in physical chemistry, she is a former section head for Procter and Gamble, where she advanced a variety of key assignments in product development, patent strategy development and out-licensing.
This semester, Mercadante delivered presentations on buoyancy, density and battery functions for Lisbon middle school students and will expand the presentations to other school science programs.
Maine School Science Volunteers is an innovative nonprofit organization that helps young students gain greater understanding of scientific principles. Engineers, scientists and mathematicians volunteer their professional experience to support and enrich teacher instruction in middle school classrooms, all at no cost to school programs.
