GRAY – Police arrested a New Gloucester woman Wednesday morning following an 11-mile car chase through three towns that culminated with a car crash and a foot chase in Falmouth.

Jillian Buzzell, 40, was arrested after Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies caught up with her on foot after she tried to flee her Jeep Cherokee, police said.

The early-morning car chase began in Gray when a deputy tried to stop her for speeding at about 12:30 a.m. on Route 100. As the chase continued into Cumberland and then Falmouth, police said Buzzell was driving at speeds up to 100 mph.

Police said when Buzzell refused to pull over for Deputy George Bernier, the officer began to follow the Jeep while notifying other police departments about the pursuit.

Cumberland County police set down a spike mat that successfully deflated the tires of the Jeep as it passed, police said.

She kept driving anyway, and continued into Falmouth. There, with the Jeep badly crippled, police said Buzzell jumped out of the vehicle and let it crash into a tree.

After just a few moments of running, deputies chased her down. Buzzell was arrested on charges of criminal speeding, eluding police, driving with a suspended license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they are forwarding findings of their investigation to the district attorneys office, which may file additional charges.

Buzzell remained at the Cumberland County Jail on Wednesday night pending a court appearance. Police said Buzzell also goes by the name of Jillian Heald-Robertson.
