NORWAY – Kaye M. Phinney, 85, of Norway, died Friday evening at Stephens Memorial Hospital with her devoted family by her side.
She was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Feb. 5, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Lena Perry Peters.
She attended school in New Brunswick.
Kaye had been employed as a bookeeper, a secretary in a real estate office, and as a retail sales clerk at Kmart. She was extremely crafty, making quilts and afghans, knitting and needlepoint.
On July 14, 1950, she married George D. Phinney, Jr.
She and her husband were very active in giving to charity. They would adopt families at Christmas, knit hats for homeless shelters, and make shawls and afgans for the elderly.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, George; her daughter, Ellen; her surrogate daughter, Sally; and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
