LEWISTON – Leslie E. Staples, 63, of Blake Street Towers, died Friday, June 1, at d’Youville Pavilion.

He was born in Brockton, Mass., on July 4, 1943, the son of Walter and Ella (Ames) Staples.

He was employed for the Auburn Public Works Department from 1975 until his retirement in 1989.

He was a fourth degree knight and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106 in Lewiston. He was also assistant scout master for the Boy Scouts from 1992 to 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Yvette (Pomerleau) Staples, whom he married in California on Sept. 1, 1973; his son, Kevin Staples and his friend, Jeremy, of San Francisco, Calif.; his stepdaughter, Laurette McGee of Beaverton, Ore.; his stepgrandson, Darrell McGee and his wife, Heather of Beaverton, Ore.; his step-great-granddaughter, Delaney McGee of Beaverton, Ore.; his aunt, Hattie Bithers and her husband, Wally of West Island, Mass.; and his many friends in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

He was predeceased by his mother, Ella Paulding; his father, Walter Staples; and his son, Raymond Staples.
