SKOWHEGAN – Raphael D. (DeSanctis) Grant, 95, died Saturday, June 2, at Cedar Ridge Center for Healthcare & Rehabilitation.

She was born on Jan 18, 1912, in Messina, Sicily, Italy, the daughter of Carlo and Josephine (Cirrillo) DeSanctis.

She attended Madison High School.

Her parents operated Sandy’s Lunchroom in Madison for 37 years, where her father created the “dynamite” sandwich.

On Sept. 30, 1933, she married her first husband, Emile DeRosby, who died in 1956. She then married Roger Grant on May 1, 1971. He died in 1988.

She enjoyed making clothes for herself and keeping up with fashion. She was also an honorary member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her son, Carlo DeRosby and his wife, Connie; a grandson, Rock DeRosby, his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Elena and Antonio; granddaughters, Sharon Geankoplis and her husband, Nick, and Diane Moudy and her daughter, Haley; special nephews, Michael DeSanctis and his children, Briana and Antonio, Steven DeSanctis and his wife, Linda, and Joey DeSanctis, his wife, Anne, and their children, Adam, Michael, and Rocky.

She will be sadly missed by many lifelong close friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Emile DeRosby; her second husband, Roger Grant; a sister, Minnie Precopio; and brothers, Antonio DeSanctis and John Cerilli.
