LEWISTON – Frank O. Brown Sr., 90, of New Sharon, died Monday, June 4, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born June 17, 1916, in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Curtis G. and Luelian (Hartford) Brown.

He attended and graduated from New Sharon schools. He married the late Doris E. Moody on Dec. 11, 1939; she died Oct. 15, 1982. He lived in New Sharon all of his adult life and held many different town positions. He was the oldest living deputy sheriff in Franklin County, was a New Sharon school board member, tax collector, fire chief and fire warden for 25 years, road commissioner, and the vice president of the Franklin County Fire Association.

He also drove the first school bus in New Sharon. He was a member of many organizations including the Franklin Lodge 123 A.F. & A.M., the Chapter Council Commandry, the Kora Temple Shrine, and Eastern Star. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time working the ground with his tractor and observing wildlife.

He is survived by one daughter, Janis Dumas, and her husband, Roger, of New Sharon; three sons, Dr. Dennis T. Brown, and his wife, Raquel, of Raleigh, N.C., Frank O. Brown Jr., and his wife, Egizia, of Greenland, N.H. and Jeffrey A. Brown, and his wife, Audrey, of New Sharon; seven grandchildren, Raymond, Ian, Sara, Virgil, Ariel, Wyatt and Malina; three great-grandchildren, Leah, Rachel and Gabriel; two sisters, Margaret Ball and Iris Neth, both of California; one brother, Ariel Brown, and his wife, Theresa, of New Jersey; and his longtime companion, Kay Nadeau of New Sharon.

He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 42 years, Doris M. Brown; one grandson, Nolan Dumas in 1986; three brothers; and two sisters.
