LEWISTON – Irene R. Swift, 91, a longtime resident of Gardiner, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 3, at Montello Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Farmington, April 10, 1916, the daughter of Shirley M. and Effie Crandall Ramsdell. She was educated in Farmington schools and graduated from Farmington High School in 1933.

She married Norman E. Swift in 1943, and they spent most of their married life in Gardiner.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Stella Marie Duclos of Poland and David Douglass Swift of Litchfield; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Stewart and Cassandra and Dalton Duclos; two sisters, Thelma Ramsdell of Augusta and Winona Davis of Lisbon Falls; and one brother, Richard Ramsdell of Jay.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1998; her son, David Johnathan in 2003; her sister, Gladys Fraser in 1989; and her parents.
