Kiwanis breakfast turns 50 this year

AUBURN – The Auburn Lewiston Kiwanis Club annual Kiwanis pancake breakfast is turning 50 this year.

Surprisingly little has changed with the breakfast over this time. Dan Goff, chairman of the “all-you-can-eat” pancake breakfast committee, said, “All Kiwanians have carried on this tradition with gusto, and with our mission in mind, to change the world one child at a time. We invite one and all to join us as we celebrate our golden anniversary, as we convert our special batter into the famous golden beauties.”

For the 50th straight year, rain or shine, the breakfast will begin at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 10, at the Downtown Auburn Festival Plaza. Volunteers from Kiwanis, the Key Clubs of Lewiston and St. Dominic Regional high schools and area businesses will be on hand.

Proceeds support a Longley School reading program, summer camp scholarships, college scholarships and museum passes at both Twin City libraries, among many Kiwanis-supported initiatives.

Tickets are available at all Twin Cities Shaw’s and Hannaford’s for $5 in advance. All children ages 5 and under eat free. Tickets are $6 on the day of the breakfast and may be purchased at the big top next to the new parking garage in downtown Auburn.
