Grange meeting
LIVERMORE – New Norlands Grange met at the hall on May 26 with 10 members present. Members voted to donate $25 to the Maine Conservation Camp at Bryant Pond.
A memorial service was conducted by Frances Berry as acting chaplain. The lecturer’s program consisted of a history of the Grange from 1867 to 1947, written by Lecturer Emily Pike.
A skit was performed, and Master Robert Jones gave the history of Norlands Grange from 1894 to 1910.
The next meeting will be on Saturday, June 23, when election of officers will be held.
Society speaker
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Historical Society will meet at the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Monday, June 11. There will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by a business meeting and program at 7.
The program will be presented by Jeff Knapp, a sporting historian. He will talk about fishing with old bamboo rods and collecting and restoration of them and about Charles Wheeler, who made bamboo rods.
New members and guests are welcome.
Alumni meeting
STRATTON – The Alumni Association of the Dead River Area will hold its 27th annual meeting on Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Stratton/Eustis Community Building, Main Street, Route 27.
Graduates of Flagstaff High School, Stratton High School and Mt. Abram Regional High School are invited to attend.
Registration at 10 a.m. will be followed by a business meeting at 11 and awards following the business meeting.
Food will be available for sale from the Lions Club and desserts from the alumni table. For more information, call Anna Smart, association secretary, at 793-2768.
