MECHANIC FALLS – Elaine D. Callahan, 68, of New Symrna Beach, Fla., died unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 5.
She was born in Lewiston, June 25, 1938, the daughter of Victor and Dorothy Purington Pray Sr. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High Scool. She had worked as a secretary, owned her own restaurant while living in Vermont, and worked at Publix Stores while living in Florida. She was married to Sherman Callahan, who died in February. She was a member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary 1557 and the Ealges Club, both in New Symrna Beach. She was an avid beano player and enjoyed going on cruises.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda Jahn of Waynesboro, Va., Cindy Morgan of Mechanic Falls, Kelly Callahan of Norway and Maureen Berube of Rochester, N.H.; two brothers, Victor Pray Jr., and his wife, Bunny and Alan Pray, and his wife, Penny, all of Mechanic Falls; two sisters, Cassie and Rex Martin of Auburn and Cindy and Peter Goodwin of Searsport; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Ronald.
