NORWAY – School Superintendent Mark Eastman has been notified by the Maine School Superintendents Association that he is one of three MSSA members selected to receive the 2007 Outstanding Leadership Award.
The award will be presented at the MSSA Recognition Banquet on June 25.
“It’s very nice to be recognized by your peers,” said Eastman, who received a Leadership Award in 1993 while serving with SAD 42 in Aroostook County.
The MSSA, with headquarters in Augusta, established the annual award in 1984 to recognize superintendents and assistant superintendents for their “outstanding educational leadership.”
MSSA officials say the criteria for the award include leadership, professional service to the association, exemplary educational programs with which they have been associated in a leadership capacity, and service to the profession of education.
