JAY – Norman M. “Moon” Therrien, 75, of Franklin Road, Jay, died late Friday, June 8, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Chisholm, the son of Joseph and Laura (Guerin) Therrien. He attended Livermore Falls High School, Class of 1951.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He married Claire Ouellette on March 2, 1957, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay.

Norman worked at International Paper Co. at the Otis and Androscoggin Mills in Jay, and later at Bath Iron Works in Bath until his retirement in 1995.

Norman kept active working with his son, Jody, at Jay Auto Wash, helping with maintenance and other odd jobs.

He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Quarter Century Club of International Paper Co. and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post No. 3335 in Jay, AmVets Post No. 33, and K.of C., 3rd & 4th Degree.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and bird watching.

He is survived by his wife, Claire, of Jay; two sons, Jody Therrien and his wife, Sue, of Jay, and Dana Therrien and his companion, Amy Cox, of Newtonville, Mass.; three daughters, Shelly Becerra of Jay, Cynthia St. Peter and her husband, Dale, of Orono, and Susan Austin and her husband, Eric, of Augusta; six grandchildren, Mason Therrien, Dustin Becerra, Eric Giroux, Lacey Bauman, and Andrew and Alex Bourret; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Bauman, Hannah and Emily Giroux, and Hunter Becerra Bibeau; a brother, Frances Therrien and his wife, Lou, of Livermore Falls; four sisters, Yvette Mallette of Livermore, Theo Gallant of Canton, Jeannette Roy and her husband, Raoul, of Jay, and Claire Parker and her husband, Dick, of Livermore.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Rene, Ronald, Leo and Roland “Red” Therrien; and a sister, Rita LaBrecque.
