AUBURN – A Lewiston man was charged with operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after an early morning crash on Center Street Sunday.

According to Officer Chris Hatfield, Jonathan W. Davis, 35, of 55 Summer St., failed to yield to traffic when he pulled out of the McDonald’s parking lot at 1:10 a.m.

“He hit a car traveling south on Center Street and took off heading north,” Hatfield said. “A witness followed him until he hit a light pole further down the road out front of Lee Dodge.”

Davis was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with minor injuries.

He was summonsed on the charges.
