LEWISTON – A local Relay For Life team is taking a non-traditional approach to fundraising on Tuesday, June 12, by hosting a shopping relay with local home-based businesses. The team, nicknamed “B” Hive for the Bissonnette family, will host an evening session with local vendors at the office of Donald A. Bissonnette, public accountant, on 12 Highland Spring Road.

The event, which will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will include representatives from Pampered Chef, Arbonne, Lia Sophia, the Body Shop, Stampin’ Up, Mary Kay and Tastefully Simple.

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with product representatives in different offices, which will serve as individual “boutiques” for the evening. A portion of all proceeds will go toward supporting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, being held in Auburn on Friday, June 15.

The Relay For Life is an overnight awareness and fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Funds raised are used to spread awareness of cancer prevention, treatments and cures; to raise money for cancer research; and to celebrate those who have survived the disease.

The “B” Hive team, headed by Anne (Bissonnette) Pelkey is participating in this year’s relay to honor the memory of family members who were recently lost to cancer. “This fundraiser is the least we can do to support the American Cancer Society,” said Pelkey. “We’re all looking forward to an exciting shopping experience for a very important cause.”

The public is invited. For more information, contact Anne Pelkey at 232-3736.
