NEW PORTLAND – The state medical examiner’s office has completed the autopsy of Louise Brochu, the 50-year-old woman who was found dead outside of the New Portland Wood Flooring mill complex that she co-owned Friday morning.
According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland, the cause of death is not being released.
With police still investigating the case, McCausland could not say when the cause of death will be made public. Police are calling the death a homicide.
“There were items taken from the exterior and interior of the scene on Saturday,” McCausland said. “These will be transferred to the state crime lab for analysis.”
Police were not at the scene Sunday, but McCausland said they would continue their investigation in New Portland today.
Brochu’s body was found by police at 8:30 a.m. Friday after a customer went to the complex on Route 27 and reported her missing.
Brochu, who was in the process of selling the property for $2 million, lived on the grounds of the recently closed mill.
