AUBURN – James B. Crowley, 63, a resident of Turner, died Sunday, June 10, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in the presence of his family, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Dover, N.H., on March 24, 1944, the son of the late John Crowley and Alice (Spencer) Crowley of Weld. Jim was educated in the Bath schools and was a graduate of Morse High School. He married Jean Bartholomew of Newry on Dec. 11, 1976 in Jay.

He worked at International Paper Co. in Jay, in the maintenance department, retiring in 2006 after 40 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, usually accompanied by his friends, Ralph or George and grandson, Eric.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Turner; his mother, Alice Crowley of Weld; daughter, Kathleen Davenport, and her husband, Gordon, of Livermore; four sons, James Crowley II, and his wife, Marie, of Weld, Stephen Crowley, and his wife, Sherry, of Lakeland, Fla., Kenneth R. Pease (K.P.) of Newry and Richard Dill of Phillips; a brother, John Crowley of Montana; grandchildren, Abbie, Gordon, and William Davenport, Eric, Michelle, Troy and Courtney Crowley; a new great-granddaughter, Kaylie Estabrook; one niece; and one nephew.

He was predeceased by his father, John Crowley.
