EXETER, N.H. (AP) – The widow of a prominent New Hampshire lawyer who disappeared at sea nearly two years ago has been indicted on charges that she stole from his law firm, where she was the bookkeeper.

Deborah Woods, 52, of Stratham is charged with theft, forgery and fraudulent use of a credit card.

The indictments allege that between January 2004 and last June, Woods stole from an estate fund, forged signatures and used a debit card from the Gage & Woods firm for personal expenses.

The firm already had sued Woods, claiming she stole about $110,000 from a client. She is the widow of Stephen Woods, a partner in the firm, who drowned in the fall of 2005 after falling from a saiboat.
