NEWTON, N.H. (AP) – Authorities said an overnight house fire killed one person on Monday.

Newton Police say the fire was reported just before 3:30 a.m. at 107 South Main Street.

Officials say the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived. They found one body inside, identified as Lawrence Dube, 54, who lived alone in the house.

Dube was found inside the living room, where they believe the fire started.

Witnesses that discovered the fire did not report hearing any smoke detectors sounding and investigators at the scene were unable to recover the remains of any smoke detectors.
